Father Basilio of Brunel’s village church had been leading a peaceful and devout life—at least, as much as one could in a world ravaged by a virus.
Thanks to Happy House—or rather, the lord’s manor, as the villagers called it (a term that would horrify Cherry if she ever heard it)—Brunel had remained a safe haven amidst the chaos.
At that moment, inside the still-standing Brunel Cathedral, Father Basilio was conducting mass with the villagers.
“And lastly, let us pray for Miss Sinclair, who has given us this shelter of peace.”
It was a prayer recited regularly at every mass.
Philip, a teenage shop assistant from the antique store, naturally went along with the prayer. After all, praying for Cherry Sinclair was a given at this point. And yet, sometimes, he couldn’t help but think…
‘At this rate, we might as well start the Church of Sinclair.’
